Overview
The role of Payroll Technician plays a crucial part in accurately recording employee work hours and ensuring strict adherence to Compensation policies. The Payroll Technician serves as a point of contact for inquiries, collaborates on optimizing timekeeping processes, and contributes significantly to streamline payroll operations with a commitment to accuracy and efficiency
Responsibilities
Generate and distribute weekly time reports to departments for the review of employee timecards
Input various payroll documents, including Deferred Comp forms, leave slips, Fin 2s, general deductions, W-4s, and direct deposits
Offer customer service to employees addressing payroll concerns or issues with incorrect paychecks
Support in processing travel advances and expense reports, perform Safety Boot reconciliation, and handle various reports, including but not limited to Workman's Comp/Wage Statement and Verification of Employment
Scan and index payroll forms
May be asked to perform other duties as assigned
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work
Non-Exempt – Full-Time- Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement

Requirements
Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED
Two (2) Years of Experience
Licenses and Certifications
Required
A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire
Employment Testing
Employment is contingent on passing any post-offer pre-employment screening as listed below:

Drug Screening: Yes
Physical Exam: Yes
Basis of Rating
A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications and may request additional information. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
