BRIEF DESCRIPTION
This is a non-supervisory position which requires technical expertise. Duties include but are not limited to maintaining water pumps, equipment, facilities and collecting samples. This position is classified as essential within the Public Works Utility Department and will adhere to all policies and procedures pertaining to an essential worker.
The Water and Wastewater Utilities provide a vital and necessary public service to the citizens of Cleburne, therefore all employees of the utilities are subject to call out in the event of an emergency situation. This can include before, during, and immediately after a natural or manmade disaster, terrorism, pandemic, and equipment or system failures. As the utilities are in continuous operation emergency call out can occur at any time of the day or night and on any day of the year and can require employees to stay on the job for extended periods of time.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to work without direct supervision
- Ability to attend and understand technical courses
- Ability to assume responsibility for the complete operation of treatment plants
- Ability to detect problems in equipment operations
- Ability to make mathematical calculations by adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing numbers using formulas commonly used in the water industry
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Graduate or GED equivalent
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED
A Valid Class C Texas motor vehicle driver license and the ability to maintain a satisfactory driving record.
Employees with no job-related experience or not holding a minimum of a Class C Surface Water Treatment License accepted into WORP will be making a commitment to achieve a Class C Surface Water Treatment License
