Job Summary
The City of Richwood is seeking a qualified and motivated Police Officer to join our team. Under the supervision of the Chief of Police, this position performs a variety of law enforcement duties related to the protection of life and property, prevention of crime, and enforcement of federal, state, and local laws. Officers patrol assigned areas, respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, conduct investigations, prepare detailed reports, and provide community-oriented police services.
Key Responsibilities
- Patrol city streets to deter and detect criminal activity and respond to calls for service.
- Enforce traffic laws, conduct stops, and investigate accidents.
- Investigate crimes, collect evidence, interview witnesses and suspects, and prepare reports.
- Arrest, search, fingerprint, and transport prisoners as required.
- Testify in court proceedings.
- Maintain assigned equipment, firearms, and vehicles in proper working condition.
- Participate in ongoing law enforcement training and maintain required TCOLE certifications.
- Perform duties as part of the City’s emergency response team before, during, and after disasters.
- Work assigned shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief of Police.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Must be at least 21 years of age and a U.S. Citizen.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Current Texas Peace Officer License (TCOLE Certification).
Valid Texas Driver’s License with a good driving record.
Must pass background investigation, psychological, medical, and drug screenings.
