Description
Performs patrol/law enforcement duties in accordance with local and State laws. Serves and protects the citizens and visitors of Corsicana through crime prevention, law enforcement and preservation of the peace. Does everything within one’s own scope of influence to further implement the organizations philosophy of community-oriented policing. Demonstrates integrity, dependability, and maturity.
Applicants for this position must meet the entrance requirements as stated in the Firemen's and Policemen's Civil Service Law and the City of Corsicana Local Civil Service Rules; have or be able to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to perform the duties and assume the responsibilities of the position.
Requirements
An Entry Level Examination for the Corsicana Police Department will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. at the Corsicana Police Department, 200 N 12th St, Corsicana, TX 75110
Applications will be accepted through Friday, August 7, 2026, at 3:30 p.m.
Applicants who are TCOLE certified Police Officers may be given preference in hiring
Qualified applicants may be eligible for Lateral Entry
Minimum Qualifications to take the Civil Service Exam:
Must be a United States citizen at time of application
Applicant must be at least 21 years of age
A high school diploma/transcript or a G.E.D. (Applicants that have a GED must have either 24 months of active-duty military service and an Honorable Discharge or 12 credit hours from an accredited college or university)

- Copy of High School Transcripts or Copy of GED
- Copy of College transcripts, if applicable
- Copy of DD-214 stating an Honorable Discharge, if applicable (Applicants with military service will have 5 points added to their written test score (with passing score of 70) provided they submit a DD-214)
- Copy of TCOLE certification, if applicable
