Description
Under the general direction of the Chief of Police, the police officer shall enforce the laws of the Unites States, the state of Texas, and the Code of Ordinances of the City of Crosbyton, preserve the peace of the public, and perform various tasks assigned within the police department.
The police officer will patrol the community, respond to calls for service, investigate accidents and crimes, conduct basic investigations, and prepare written reports for presentment to the county attorney. This position requires preparation of thorough and accurate reports, basic computer knowledge and skills, the care and use of weapons, and the care, maintenance, and operation of vehicles and other equipment such as radar units and in-car and body worn video cameras.
The police officer position must be able to quickly analyze complex information in emergency or dangerous situations and make decisions of life-or-death nature while adhering to laws, policies, and procedures. The police officer must work effectively with other departments, fellow employees, and city and other government officials.
Starting pay will be competitive for a city of this size and will be commensurate with education and experience. Salary range of $36,000-$42,000. Benefits include paid vacation, paid sick leave, health, dental, and vision insurance, and TMRS.

Requirements
*Must be a United States Citizen
*Must be a high school graduate or have a GED
*Must possess a valid TX driver’s license with a good driving record
*Must hold a valid TCOLE License
*Must submit to and pass a background investigation, psychological examination, and drug test
