Description

The City of Lago Vista is seeking a Municipal Court Judge to preside over the city’s Municipal Court and administer justice in a fair, impartial, and efficient manner. The Municipal Court Judge is responsible for hearing cases involving violations of City ordinances and applicable state laws within the court’s jurisdiction, ensuring due process, and upholding the integrity of the judicial system. 

This position plays a critical role in establishing trust in local government, setting the tone for a high-functioning court, and supporting the City’s commitment to professionalism, accountability, and public service. 

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

        State of Texas Class “C” or higher driver’s license

        A citizen of the United States

        A resident of the state of Texas

        A licensed attorney by the State Bar of Texas and in good standing

        two (2) or more years of experience in the practice of law in this state.

Preferred Qualifications: 

        Five (5) or more years of experience in the practice of law in this state.

        Prior experience serving as a municipal judge, magistrate, or practicing attorney with relevant court experience.

        Bilingual (English/Spanish).
