The City of Lorena is looking for a dependable and motivated person to join our Public Works team. This is an entry-level position, and previous public works experience is not required. The City will provide training and hands-on experience to help you learn the skills needed to succeed.
What You'll Do
As a Public Works Maintenance Technician, you will work alongside our experienced team to help maintain the City's:
- Water distribution and wastewater collection systems
- Streets and public infrastructure
- Parks and public spaces
- City equipment and facilities
You will learn to safely use basic tools, vehicles, and equipment while assisting with maintenance, repairs, and other projects that keep the City running. Every day can be a little different, and you'll have the opportunity to learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities as you gain experience.

The Work
This is a hands-on position, and the work is primarily outdoors. The position requires physical activity, including lifting up to 75 pounds and moving materials and equipment. Normal hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime, nights, weekends, or holidays as needed.

The fine print
Performs general maintenance and repair of Water/Wastewater facilities, streets, parks, equipment, and infrastructure; follows safety precautions in all work performed; reports problems and emergencies; performs duties within scope of authority and training; duties may vary depending on job assignment and individual skills.
Supports the relationship between the City of Lorena and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with citizens, visitors, and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information.
Performs other duties as required.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Valid Texas Driver's License
Ability to pass pre-employment screening and background check
A Class A CDL is preferred, but not required to apply.
