Description

Job Duties: Learn to perform a variety of maintenance functions for the City of Eagle Lake Public Works Department; learn to operate and maintain department equipment and tools, and perform other duties as assigned.

Duties:

• Assist and perform mowing, removal of weeds, trim trees and hedges.
• Learn and assist in the repair and maintenance of public water and sewer collection systems.
• Learn and assist to resurface city streets, lay asphalt and concrete, backfill trenches.
• Learn to operate equipment including bulldozers, backhoes, excavators, loaders, rollers, dump trucks, mowers, tractor/shredder and sewer jet truck.
• Learn and assist in the repairs of storm drains, valve boxes, manholes, etc.
• Work outdoors and in inclement weather (i.e., heat, rain, cold, etc.)
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 100 lbs.
• Available for 24-hour call out and emergencies.

Requirements

Education/Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Have a valid Class “C” Texas Operators License with the ability to obtain a minimum Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License within four (4) months of hire date.
• Ability to obtain TCEQ approved Class “D” water and wastewater license within one (1) year of hire date.

Salary range:  Salary to be determined depending on qualifications, along with all other city employee benefits.  

• Paid: Vacation, Holiday and Sick. (Vacation accrual and holiday leave are provided in accordance with current Personnel Policies and FLSA)
• Insurance: Employer paid health, dental, vision, life/ADD, and Next Level Prime for family/dependent care.
• TMRS Retirement: Employee contribution 8%, City match 2:1, 5-year vesting (time carries over)
