Description
Maintains, monitors, installs, and repairs the City’s water distribution, sewer collection systems, Water Plants, Wastewater Plant, and related facilities. Operates various machines including jackhammers, air hammers, sewer rotor, compactor, pipe cutting equipment, and lawn equipment. Operates backhoe, front-end loaders, tractors, and Dump Trucks and other machinery. Performs heavy manual labor, and frequent physical activities such as lifting, bending, crawling, squatting, kneeling, and similar work activities. Perform any and all such duties as required or requested.
Requirements
Knowledge of vehicles, telephones, computer equipment and clerical tasks. Knowledge of the methods and procedures used in the maintenance and repair of utilities, streets, and parks. The ability to problem solve, prepare and maintain records and reports, and communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Must establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted during the course of the work. Employee should be able to work flexible hours, including unexpected overtime in emergencies and be on-call occasionally. A City vehicle will be provided when on call. Reliable transportation to and from work is required.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Candidate must have a valid Texas Driver’s License and a driving record that meets current City insurance liability requirements. A minimum Class C in water and/or wastewater issued by TCEQ or the ability to obtain within 12 months.
