Description

Karnes City Police Department in partnership with the Karnes City ISD established a School Resource Officer program.  We currently have one (1) Karnes City SRO slot available.  The SRO provides school security for the students, staff, and visitors. They shall also communicate well with school administration, students, and parents.  The SRO is expected to provide a safe and secure environment on campus for the students and staff while maintaining a high visible presence on campus.  They will investigate criminal acts that occur on school premises and lawfully arrest offenders.  They will be required to maintain any education and training in accordance with TCOLE and state mandated requirements.  During school holidays and summer, the SRO will be assigned to patrol.

Requirements

Must be a current TCOLE Certified Peace Officer

-          Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License

-          Must have a high school diploma or GED

-          Must be a U.S. Citizen

-          Has the ability to fluently read, write and speak the English language

-          Must be at least 21 years of age

-          Must have good communication skills

-          Must be of good moral character

-          Must be able to exercise sound judgement

-          Must be able to follow instructions

-          Current SRO Certification a plus, but not required.  SRO will be required to obtain certification as soon as possible

-          Some travel will be required for training

-          KC ISD will require security for after hour events

Applicant must complete a City of Karnes City Employment Application and a Personal History Packet through TCOLE
