Description
Summary
Under the general direction of the Support Services Manager, the Utility Compliance Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that the City’s water distribution meets all applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations. Acts as the liaison between an organization and other agencies to secure the necessary licenses, permits, and regulatory approvals, while also resolving compliance issues.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Researches, compiles, and submits reports, to include not limited to Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) to meet mandatory reporting requirements
- Coordinates Utility related communications with the TCEQ, EPA, and TWDB
- Evaluates compliance with current regulatory requirements and researches regulatory changes
- Prepare reports and presentations on potential impacts of regulatory changes
- Tracks federal and state mandates; stays updated on changes
- Compiles and analyzes utility related administrative and operational data; forecasts and monitors key performance indicators
- Administers regulatory permitting, tracking, and finalization for required permits
- Monitors reporting deadlines and permit renewal schedules; coordinates with division staff to ensure deadline compliance
- Serves as the water conservation coordinator; researches water conservation policies, best practices, and legislation; recommends changes to conservation initiatives
- Prepare reports, infographics and presentations on water use and conservation to educate customers, City leadership, and other stakeholders
- Develops workflows to document ongoing regulatory compliance and communicates performance to management
- Follows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Combination of education and experience equivalent to an Associate’s Degree in Environmental Science, Business Administration or related field
- Three (3) years of experience in public works, program compliance or related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree
- Experience with water, wastewater and regulatory agencies
- Utility experience or municipal government experience
Licenses and Certifications
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to obtain TCEQ Class D Water and Class D Wastewater licenses within one year
