Wastewater Superintendent
City of Kenedy — Kenedy, TX
Full-time | Exempt | $70,000+ DOE | Up to 10% travel
The City of Kenedy is seeking a Wastewater Superintendent to oversee the city’s wastewater treatment. This role is responsible for daily operations, regulatory compliance, infrastructure maintenance, emergency response, budgeting, and staff supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the operations of Kenedy's wastewater treatment plant.
- Ensure compliance with TCEQ, EPA, and municipal regulations.
- Supervise wastewater staff, including operators and field personnel.
- Prepare regulatory reports and monitor effluent quality.
- Develop and manage the department budget.
- Implement preventative maintenance for plants, lift stations, and sewer infrastructure.
- Coordinate emergency response for overflows, equipment failures, blockages, and severe weather events.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Five years of progressively responsible wastewater, collection, or public works experience.
- TCEQ Class B Wastewater Operator License required at hire.
- Valid Texas Class C driver’s license.
- Ability to work on call, evenings, weekends, and emergency callouts as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Water Resource Management, Public Administration, or related field.
- TCEQ Class A Wastewater Operator License.
- Texas Commercial Driver’s License.
This is an on-site position with a standard schedule of Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, plus rotating or assigned on-call availability. Work includes both office and field duties in treatment plants, lift stations, and outdoor environments.
