Texas law firm representing a variety of cities and other local government entities, economic development corporations, local government corporations, TIRZ Boards, non-profit organizations, and public officials and employees across the state is seeking additional attorneys prepared to develop their own client base. Our municipal practice spans a broad range of legal services, including general counsel, special counsel, administrative law, utility law, litigation counsel, appellate counsel, and specialized representation, including but not limited to legally advising public safety, property, contract, liability related matters, labor and employment, and misconduct/corruption related representation.
We are seeking motivated and detail-oriented attorneys to join our team located near Lake Travis in Austin, Texas. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced attorneys while advising clients on a wide variety of matters, with a goal of developing a client base for the attorney.
Once well-settled into the position, up to 50% of work hours may be performed in confidential settings off-site, typically in an approved home-office.

Requirements
Provide day-to-day legal counsel to local government and other clients. Draft and review ordinances, resolutions, contracts, and other agreements. Advise on land use, zoning, and development matters. Counsel clients on personnel and employment-related issues Assist with code enforcement and regulatory compliance. Counsel on Texas Open Meetings and Public Information Act matters. With minimal or no supervision:
1) provide advanced level legal advice to elected officials, senior and executive management and other clients on highly complex issues that may have high political/financial impact. May assist/supervise other attorneys and staff on other assignments.
2) conduct research on complex legal issues with a high level of political or financial impact. May assist/supervise other attorneys and staff on other assignments.
3) prepare legal documents on complex legal matters. May assist/supervise other attorneys and staff on other assignments.
4) serve as lead advocate/representative of a client in complex internal and external legal matters that have significant political/financial impact. May assist/supervise other attorneys and staff on other assignments.
5) demonstrate the ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and shifting deadlines.
6) devote a minimum of 40 hours per regular workweek to clients' legal needs.
Demonstrate
1) knowledge of substantive laws applicable to Texas local governments;
2) knowledge of relevant court procedures and rules of evidence;
3) ability to communicate and present analysis and information both orally and in writing in a clear and effective manner;
4) ability to conduct thorough and accurate legal and factual research relevant to the job assignment,
5) ability to analyze and problem-solve in a timely fashion on legal issues relevant to the job assignment,
6) proficiency in use of computer systems and technology.

9) ability to conform to firm administrative procedures and requirements,

Required:
Graduation from an American Bar Association accredited school of law.
Current active membership in good standing of the State Bar of Texas.
Minimum Five (5) full years of active practice as a licensed attorney.
Valid license to practice law issued by the State Bar of Texas.
